Dear Prospective Donor:
Have you thought about giving a special gift to someone you do not personally know this holiday season?
Even the most independent among us, if fortunate to live long enough, may experience a decline in mobility or health that can strip away our independence and diminish the quality of our lives. Imagine you are unable to leave your home due to serious medical conditions which make you more vulnerable as an isolated, elderly adult. You are now completely dependent on others and community resources to help you meet your basic needs. To make matters worse, your family lives in another state and you are alone.
Everyone should have the opportunity to live independently with dignity – especially our senior population.
IVC’s vision is to alleviate the health disparity associated with the lack of transportation/financial/family resources to enhance the overall health of our local communities within the Magic Valley. IVC continues to provide a safety net to breakdown isolation/access barriers for those most at risk – elderly, disabled, and chronically ill. Partnering together with IVC’s enthusiastic volunteers, empowers older adults to “Access to Healthcare” for their cancer treatments, dialysis, medical specialists, as well as preventive healthcare appointments along with pharmacy/grocery store visits.
Have you ever known someone who needed a lifeline?
IVC is the LAST and ONLY lifeline/resource offering FREE, DOOR to DOOR volunteer services to maintain our clients access to community’s essential services. During each client contact, our unique service offers friendly interaction with a caring volunteer. Our programs are designed to help those who need the services the most and do not qualify for any other programs or resources. Special considerations are given for services to those who are considered the most vulnerable including veterans. Note-92% of IVC‘s clients are over the age of 60; 63% of IVC’s clients are age 70+. 63% of IVC’s clients live in their own home with 74% being women & 49% of these women being age 70+. 37% of IVC’s clients live in City of Twin Falls, while 63% reside outside the Twin Falls city limits or in surrounding marginalized counties without any available transportation options.
IVC will help meet the daily life challenges of our clients in the coming year. However, IVC’s increased mileage reimbursement costs are consuming over 45% of our program budget due to growing number of clients, transport miles and the increased mileage reimbursement rate! The overwhelming increase in mileage is unprecedented (2022–102,246 miles, 2023-124,450 miles, compared Jan-Sept 2024 –114,540 miles. The cost effectiveness associated with small mileage reimbursement cost (currently .67 cents per mile) along with the volunteers’ hourly cost savings cannot be rivaled with other transportation choices. The utilization of IVC’s active volunteers, who use their own vehicles for transports while donating their time and talent (Oct 2023-Sept 2024) to provide services to our clients, is a cost saving benefit valued at $254,108 (8,436.54 hours @ $30.12).
The importance of giving to IVC cannot be understated. The true success story – Our communities are stronger, healthier and fiscally enhanced because of IVC’s commitment, our volunteers, and your “Giving the Gift of Home” donation. Ensuring our clients “Access to Healthcare” leads to a healthy, higher quality of life, self-reliance, and a valued well rounded community member.
Respectfully submitted,
Jeanette Roe
