Racing for Charity was established in 2020 to help smaller nonprofits in the Magic Valley region with fundraising efforts. Our annual event, The Kentucky Derby Celebration, hosts a live broadcast of the Kentucky Derby Race, as well as dinner, games, and live and silent auctions.
Guests are encouraged to dress in traditional Kentucky Derby attire, with prizes for the best hat and best-dressed couple. All net proceeds from this event go back to 15 small local charities including Interlink Volunteer Caregivers (IVC). Note: IVC received $10,000 from the 2023 event.
Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). The 2024 theme is Powered by Connection, which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being. We will address the vital role that connectedness plays in supporting independence and aging in place by combating isolation, loneliness, and other issues.
Ways YOU Can Participate!
Share facts about the mental, physical, and emotional health benefits of social connection and how it contributes to overall well-being.
Connect older adults with local services, such as IVC’s transportation, that can help them overcome obstacles to achieving or maintaining meaningful relationships.
